About Metropolitan Polymetallic Project
The Metropolitan Polymetallic property, comprising 11 mineral tenures with total area 1,716 hectares, is a silver-lead-gold property located in the historic Lardeau mining camp of southern British Columbia. The Lardeau area is part of the Kootenay District that was the site of some of the earliest silver-lead and zinc mines in the province, and smelters at Nelson and Trail were initially supported by ores from the District. More than fifty properties have been brought to production, of which the Bluebell Mine at Riondell, 100 km south, and the Sunshine Lardeau Mine at Beaton, 10 km southwest, are particularly notable. Many occurrences in the District are closely related to fold structures developed in Lower Cambrian age carbonate and shale formations that also are present on the Metropolitan Project. The Kootenay District is the premier Silver producing area of British Columbia.
