A qualified archaeologist conducted a preliminary assessment of possible archaeological values in the Hat Project area. One site of interest was identified and further studies were recommended. The Tahltan and Sheslay valleys south and west of the Hat Project have long histories of human occupation and the Klondike Gold Rush era overland telegraph line passed through the area. First Nations cultures place high values, both ceremonial and traditional, on the salmon and wildlife. Doubleview observes appropriate measures to avoid any degradation of those values.
