Hat Project Overview
The Hat Property comprises 6,308.00 hectares in ten mineral tenures and is located in northwestern British Columbia, 95 km southwest of Dease Lake and 190 km south of Atlin. It is immediately east of the Coast Mountains and south of Level Mountain, a large inactive shield-type volcano. Hat project is located about 10 kilometers North of the Golden Bear Road. Current access is by fixed-wing aircraft from Dease Lake or Whitehorse to the Sheslay airstrip or by helicopter directly to the Hat project camp. The recently completed Northwest Transmission Line brings electric power to within 120 km and Highway 37, an all-weather hard surfaced road, is 95 km east.
Discovery:
Proudly, the Doubleview management and geological team discovered the Hat deposit in early 2014 from a greenfield prospect in the first drilling season. Although the mineralization length in some drill holes exceeds 0.5 km, the company has yet to identify the extent of the deposit laterally and at depth.
The deposit has a sulphide footprint of more than 11 square km, determined by rock samples and geological mapping, and has the potential to be one of British Columbia’s most important discoveries in recent years.
The Hat Property has been explored by magnetic and induced polarization geophysical surveys, geochemical soil surveys and geological mapping, and 30 drill holes with total length 10,281 metres.
Historic (1978-1979, et al.) geochemical soil surveys identified large areas with anomalous to strongly anomalous copper in soils values that were confirmed in 2011 by additional surveys. Prospecting and geological investigations located zones of copper and gold mineralization and areas of outcroppings with alteration and mineralization characteristic of porphyry-type deposits coincident with strongly anomalous magnetic and chargeability responses. Further surveys in 2011 provided additional data that supported the grassroots exploration model that guided initial diamond drilling in 2013.
Following the drilling of six holes with marginal but encouraging success, a more aggressive drilling campaign in 2014 resulted in the discovery of the Lisle Zone of gold-copper mineralization. Further drilling in 2015 and 2016 has confirmed the presence of a very large gold-copper deposit that has not been delimited in any dimension. The Hat Project Lisle Zone is an alkalic-type gold-copper porphyry discovery closely similar in genesis, host rock types, alteration and mineralization to several important British Columbia mines, including the Copper Mountain, Mt Polley, Mt Milligan, and Red Chris operating mines but distinct from Valley Copper and Gibraltar calc-alkalic porphyry mines.
